Whether it’s the thrill of quickly approaching deadlines or the comfort of a perfectly systematic approach, I think we can all agree that there is nothing better than reaching a milestone. Finishing a job (or a portion of one) is the pinnacle of our pride as builders. One of my proudest moments came last summer when we had to lift a 60,000 Ton pedestrian bridge for Stratford High School in Connecticut. To achieve Turner Lean points, the walkway was prefabricated. This however, created many challenges as it had to connect a new and existing building. We all held our breath as the massive structure swung overhead like a marionette, but nothing outweighed the pride of completing the task. No matter what the project, we all understand the level of commitment and focus it takes to reach our given milestones but also the satisfaction, relief, and pride of doing so.
