My knowledge in the construction industry has grown significantly since I started my internship here at Geneva Rock. For one of our projects in Bluffdale, Utah, I learned the importance of protecting our environment by helping put together the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). After completing the SWPPP and being Environmental Control Supervisor (ECS) certified, I learned that erosion control is necessary to protect our waterways. The result of implementing erosion control is clean and safe water that can be used for drinking, watering crops, and much more.
Safety is another important professional skill that I gained while working here. We are reconstructing pedestrian access ramps at another project in Grantsville, Utah. After demolishing and removing the ramps, we must prepare a path that is wheelchair/pedestrian accessible with safety as our top priority.
Working here has significantly influenced my life and changed my perspective regarding the world of construction.
